Photograph a building from a narrow street without losing essential edges

Compare camera position, available lenses, and corrected cropping before committing to an architectural composition.

Define what must stay in frame

Across a narrow street, tilting upward captures the roof but makes verticals converge. Correction may then remove the shop sign. List required elements—roof, entrance, facade edges—and the delivery orientation. Perspective correction changes the usable crop; it cannot invent content outside the captured view.

Compare the live composition

  1. Choose a safe, permitted position and stabilize the phone.
  2. Open BuildingShift and inspect the corrected final view, including clearance around the roof and sign.
  3. Compare the physical rear cameras available on the device and reconsider orientation.
  4. If an edge remains tight, explore permitted positions along the street instead of repeatedly tilting from one spot.
  5. Capture when the required content fits, then inspect both original and corrected images.

Treat cropping as a design constraint

A roof may fit while the sign touches the lower edge, leaving an unusable promotional photo. Try looser framing. If space and lens coverage remain insufficient, reconsider the deliverable: perhaps an entrance detail or separate reference views. Full coverage is not guaranteed by correction. The intended use determines acceptable perspective.

Inspect both saved images

Check lettering, roof edges, lines, and empty corners in the corrected image. Compare the original to distinguish insufficient capture from correction effects. Acceptance means required elements remain visible, text is readable, and edge distortion does not distract from the intended use. Retain the original as an alternative source.

Release scope

The release corrects roll and pitch in the live view and captures the correction and crop already shown. It saves original and corrected images. Post-capture four-corner editing, automated line refinement, and video correction are excluded. Heed device or geometry warnings; a full facade cannot always fit a narrow street.
